Internal Combustion Engine
2019
21 x 29 cm
"Internal Combustion Engine" is the foundation of Kerem Ozan Bayraktar's various works focusing on the
"Great Oxidation Event"
. The artist presents the emergence of oxygen on earth and the definitions of oxygen-related processes through a dense marking. Each term is connected to the other in the same color relationship, mapping a structure in language where terms point to other terms, where life and death intertwine in a dynamic relationship.
After "Internal Combustion Engine", Kerem Ozan Bayraktar continued to make works focusing on the "Great Oxidation Event". The solo exhibition "Rocks and Winds, Germs and Words", which can be seen at SANATORIUM between September 5 - October 12, 2019, covers some of these works. Bringing together the artist's works that deal with the possibilities of a materialist grounding of the flows and relations of life, the exhibition is interested in diversity, variation and complexity, and the forms of movement, transformation and flow that make them possible. The exhibition was curated by Kevser Güler.
